We lost our boat in n storm Eunice

Dear All Fish Lovers, Supporters and Followers of Fresh From The Boat,

This week has been one of the hardest for ‘Fresh From The Boat’ we had prepared has best has possible for the storms coming in, including storm Eunice.

We closed the shop early Friday however we’d soon had the news that a fishing boat had washed ashore. Tia was secured to her mooring in the safety of the harbour however Sadly this was our fishing vessel ‘Tia Maria’ at and sheer devastation kicked in.

Its the only means Peter can earn his living. We are insured but sadly due to commercial insurance will probably only meet half of the costs and not cover loss of work for Pete which maybe sometime, just has his main fishing season is soon about to begin.

It’s been a very long few days with copious amounts of paperwork, retrieval of gear, lack of sleep and we are exhausted.

However on a more positive note i cannot believe how you guys have supported us, from offers of help, practical and emotional, how many of you have supported us while in tears, and i can’t thank you enough for those of you who have offered financial help via the Go Fund me campaign.

Go Fund me campaign

The Go Fund me campaign was setup up and requested by 100’s of our buyers, supporters and followers and not by us.

I cannot believe the support we have had from you all it’s been very overwhelming, and will go a huge way to keeping Pete going while out of work, to help with any initial costs we have to pay in advance etc.

Please read full details on the Gofund me page:

We have had the surveyor out today and it’s not looking good for Tia Maria and looks to be a write off, however await full confirmation and the rescue mission of getting her off the wall.

So what now….

We are feeling pretty broken and it’s hard to keep it all together, however the shop will be opening from tomorrow (Wednesday)

We have a number of boats and fish markets that will be landing in to us over the coming weeks to support us, ensuring we have Fresh Fish at hand and we’ve had more boats approach us offering their catch while we do not have a fishing boat.

The shop will be open:

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

10am – 3pm

and home deliveries will remain in place on Friday.

Fish available this week

We should have Cod, Hake, Haddock, Plaice, Lemon Sole, Dressed Crabs, Squid, Smoked Haddock, Tiger Prawns, Mackerel, Monk Fish, Plaice, Salmon and more…

The winds are still strong but we will remain open and are grateful for any support you can offer during this difficult time.

Thank you

Chantelle & Peter.

  1. Dear Chantelle and Peter, My heart goes out to you both – I wept when I saw the photos. I will do anything I can to support you and have sent a small donation. I do hope you get a/your boat back soon. After all you have been through you don’t deserve this. Your smiles are infectious and a lesson to us all so I hope you get them back soon. With very best wishes Sarah
